Pre-Launch Plans!

Hey Everyone,

Welcome back from the summer! Hope you've had a refreshing time with friends and family! I was going to tell you about the vision for the term, but I've decided to hold that back just a bit longer whilst I and the student team continue to pray about it. But you don't have to wait for that, because we've got some pre-launch plans; some things that are easy going, and centred around community and prayer, because we just want to get back together with one another and with Jesus. So without further ado…

Prayer and Worship Evenings

Tuesday 14th, 21st & 28th, 7pm for 7:30pm start

A time of prayer, worship and intercession for new students. We want to get together, into God's presence, and see where he leads us. It's a great chance to pray for freshers as they arrive, but also to align our hearts with Gods and to let him be known to us afresh. I can't say much about what it will look like, as that's up to God! but there'll be prayer, worship and a chance to get creative. We'll open doors at 7pm to catch up with one another before a 7:30pm start.

Games on Common and Campus

This isn't formal, but we'll be organising games during freshers week on campus and the common, to catch up some more and build community, as well as meet new people and welcome freshers in. Keep an eye on the group chat, and feel free to organise your own! If you're not on the group chat and would like to be, contact Tim, details here: https://linktr.ee/hfstudents

Prayer Walking

Similar to the above, for those that are up for it we'll prayer walking at different times every day during freshers. Details will come out nearer the time, but we'd love you to join us!

The Big Difference

Before the pandemic Above Bar Church were taking food donations and using it to make a breakfast for the homeless. As the pandemic went on, they started taking on more and more food, and giving to more and more projects and now they're taking in thousands of pounds worth of food, and giving to over 30 projects! They're always in need of people at the hub for lifting, shifting, stacking, packing or driving

If you want to get involved in helping the wider community, this is where we're starting. Get in touch with Tim for more details- there'll almost certainly be free food to take back if you need some motivation!

Welcome Meals

Starting 26th September, 5pm for 5:30pm food served

It's going to be great to finally get round the table with one another and share a meal. We're also really looking forward to welcoming new people to the church too. We need loads of volunteers to cook, set up, pack down, wash up, welcome, etc to make this work, from 3pm, 4pm or after the meal- so please try to be free for this, and serve the new students coming in. Do let me know what time you can help from. If you can't help that's fine too, I'd love you to still be there to share community!

First Student Night

4th, 5th or 6th October, 7pm - Not quite sure…

We'll be able to tell you the date and what we're up to soon! But this will be where we launch the plan for the term, and all gather together for the first time as a whole student community. Thought I'd just give you a heads up that it's coming!
